Today is the much-publicized Firefox 3 Download Day, the day of release of the version 3 of my favourite (in fact first choice) web browser.
I've been using Firefox since version 0.9 and have only briefly switched out to IE7 and Opera 9 but have always come back. It's certainly not the perfect browser, but the combination of tabbed browsing, flexbility with a large number of available add-ons, general fast performance and the fact that it's open source and provides the same interface no matter what platform I'm using (I have a Linux computer as well) all endear Firefox to my heart.
I really like version 3 and urge you to download it and give it a try. You can get it at http://www.getfirefox.com. I am confident you will not regret giving it a try, even if you do not decide to use it as your primary web browser.
Oh, I forgot to mention the reason for a much-publicized Firefox Download Day. Mozilla are trying to set a world record for software downloads with Firefox 3. If you download it before 1700hrs UTC 18 June 2008, your download will count towards this world record. I think it's a cool thing; I'd download it as soon as it's out anyway, and I like the idea of getting more people to know Firefox and maybe switch away from IE.
Now back to my project report.....
